Default New Market for Tapestries?

This might be in the wrong section, but it surprised the crap out of me earlier.

Been trying to sell some unidentified golds for a few days, so I go to EOTN to maybe find a buyer.

I open the Trade window, and there's somebody trying to sell Monumental Tapestries for 5k each.

My initial reaction was to chuckle and deem the person an idiot, given that tapestries are FREE just for playing through EOTN, and that my own experience trying to sell them yielded zero results.

So I, having several lying around due to not touching my HoM, get the clever idea to post that I'm selling them for 1k.
Next thing I know I've gotten ten PM's and multiple trade attempts...and I'm confused.

Is this all due to the announced rewards for GW2?
Since when did a free item which can be acquired in limitless amounts (provided you have multiple characters working) gain so much monetary value?

...or is it just the result of rich, lazy GW'ers trying to max out their HoM before emigrating to GW2?

^^ this.

also if you bought all 3 games but left after eotn was released and you were rich and suddenly heard that you can get 30/50 just by buying stuff and as an added bonus eotn goes on sale with a 33% discount then what would you do ?!

you go buy eotn and buy everything you need for the hom and buy tapestries.

Um, I think Rubies/Saphs/Onyxs/Diamonds are the bigger new market now lol.

Strangely enough the price of ectos seems to have stayed about the same, if not declined. Guess everyone has at least one set of FoW armor by now.

(...Out of those who want to max their points. I needed to add this otherwise I may get assaulted.)

If you are returning joe, and have 4 characters, you can just run each to hom - it takes, what, less than hour for all?

And it is not like you actually can skip on gwen content if you want to pimp your hom (hero armors, easy statues, etc).

You've probably seen me selling those, and yes they do sell.
I started directly after F5'ing GW2's website till death, and I figured, alot of people must need tapestries because everyone is raging their HoM ^^.
Made 1 million cash in 10 hours

Oh btw, my tip to you guys willing to try this out, your free to, but since GW2's calculator has been released like 2 days ago, like 80% of the people has fillled their HoM with tapestries already. I am hardly selling mine atm lol.

Just so you know, dont waste 100 plat on tapestries which you wont sell in 4 days anymore :/.

Some people might have only one character or less than four characters. They don't want to run EOTN content to get all tapestries. Easier just to buy few with couple plat.

Those people probably haven't played GW much. Returning after an year, two or even more.

Fortunately, you can get all four tapestries needed for a single character by just playing through EotN once. This is part of the reason why I dont understand how anyone would buy them. If they care about their points, they will need to finish EotN sooner or later anyway.

I also noticed the RM Trader running out of Jadeite the other day - there's a run on Luxon armor too.

An interesting blip in the economy, methinks.

I was surprised by the stable ecto price, too. But it can't be stable because everyone already has FoW armor. The price of shards is through the roof, and those have absolutely no other use. Along with insane prices for every other mat -- common or rare -- used in crafting armor, for every mini, for every HoM weapon, etc.

I've spent much of the weekend being really, really sorry I put off a number of things I've been planning to purchase, thinking "no prob, I have plenty of time to get around to buying that Primeval remnant/mini nian/etc." Now I'm just hoping that prices will go back to semi-normal after the rush is over, maybe in a couple of months.

It is because ecto is not only mat for armor, it is also a secondary currency. Thus, even though shards go up due to ppl buying it to craft armor, the ectos are stable because people are also selling them to buy other stuff for their HoM. Or at least that is my take.

How about if you only have one or two things that need adding to HoM from one character, but have no intention of playing through the whole of EotN? Chances are you'll just want to quickly throw up the relevant monument tapestries and get the stuff added, so it might be quicker to just buy the extra tapestries.

Unless you can do that from account view of HoM anyway? I dunno, it's the only reason I can think of for doing it - no intention of completing EotN on a character, just want their goodies added.

Yeah not like there's basically all the time in the world to run through a few quests. Between this and the threads complaining there's nothing to do, one might assume people are impossible to please nowadays.

Did anyone see that guy spamming for an unded ELF for 70k? Everyone was making fun of him but he just kept spamming it.
